Dick Jones - Drums

Having played drums for some 46 years, Dick has attained a level of expertise few ever realize. His immense talent is exceeded only by his masterful  work ethic that transends to the audience with every performance.  Having played with several of Houston's top groups such as the popular" Herman and  the Dearhearts " and " The B-Sides ", he now leads American Boogie and they are much the better for it

Tom Bryan - Lead Guitar

Tom hails from Kansas City, MO, but he got to Texas as quick as he could. Having played guitar for over forty years, he has shared the stage with several top bands. His influences are many but his favorite music has always been the brass band music from the 70s to the 90s. Tom also fills in background vocals for the group. He has said that playing music with American Boogie makes him feel like he's come home again!

Mike Fisher - Keyboards

Mike, who plays both guitar and keyboards is providing boogie on the keys this time around. He too, is a very accomplished singer with a love of 60s and 70s music. Mike has played with " Funksion" and the "Bay Arera Bombers", as well as bands in other parts of the country. Mike's knowledge of electronics and equipment also make him a valuable asset to the band.

Bobby Guess - Trombone

Bobby Guess is currently the Instru-mental Fine Arts Coordinator for the Houston Independent School  Dist., and is a "top call" freelance bass trombonist in the Houston area. He has had the pleasure of backing up such great names as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, The Platters, Lee Greenwood, Steve Tyrell, the Mills Brothers and Maynard Ferguson. He has played with the Buddy Brock orchestra, the Ronny Renfrow Big Band, and the Cary Richards Big Band. What a find for the "Boogie"!!

Sonny Jones - Lead Vocal

Sonny began performing and recording in the sixties. His early success lead to years of music appreciation which he exudes with soulful and energetic renditions of every song he sings. One would believe that he's actually lived everything he sings about, who knows....maybe he has. He has spent his years singing everything from doo-wop, rock & roll, blues, soul and even contemporary Christian music.

Steve Redman - Bass

Steve adds versatility to the band. Not only a driving bass player, but an accomplished singer as well. He has played with several groups from the Houston area, and connected with American Boogie at just the right time.  Steve loves performing and brings special effect to many of the songs he sings.

Mike Loftin - Saxophone

Mike is the leader of the horn section. A terrific saxophonist and flautist, he brings heavy-duty soul to the front during his solos and when arranging the horn section's charts. He played with " Herman & the Dearhearts " for many years. It would be hard to find a better fit for American Boogie than the man responsible for " The Mighty Loftin Horns ". Mike presently plays with The Ronny Renfrow Big Band and the Liberty Opry.

John Goode - Trumpet

A resident of Friendswood, John has been a professonal music educator for over 25 years. He taught high-school bands and was consistently in the First Division Winners in competition. Having taken time-off from teaching, he now fills his time performing with churches, high-school musicals, College of the Mainland Big Band, The South Dance Orchestra, and The Liberty Opry's Rock & Roll and Fifties Show.
